These Terms & Conditions are an important part of your driving tuition. Please read them carefully.

By taking driving lessons with Bell School of Motoring it is accepted that you have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions.

Bell School of Motoring is an Independent Driving School owned and run by Stephen Bell and Michelle Bell; with Natasha Halls, Matt Williamson and Pete Travers making up our team as self-employed instructors. In the first instance please speak to your individual instructor who will endeavour to resolve any problems or issues and if necessary pass to Michelle Bell for resolution.

Driving Licence and Fitness to Drive
You must hold a current, valid driving licence, provisional, full or international which must be produced on your first driving lesson, and at regular intervals throughout your training if required. Any changes to your driving licence due to medical conditions or driving convictions must be communicated to your instructor immediately. Please ensure that you present yourself in suitable clothing, particularly practical footwear. It is also important to attend lessons with any appropriate glasses or contact lenses for reasons of road safety. If I think you are unfit to drive due to Drink or Drug misuse, or fail to meet any of the above conditions, the lesson will be cancelled at your expense. All personal processions are brought to the lesson at the students own risk. I cannot accept responsibility for any injury, loss or damage arising from a driving lesson.

Condition of Lessons
All lessons will be on a one to one basis and are tailored to the individual student and are taught in a friendly patient manner. You will always receive the full lesson time you have paid for. We are happy to start and finish your lesson from different locations, providing these are agreed at least one working day in advance, and that both are within the usual area of my work. Whenever you are driving in the school vehicle, you will be under close supervision. However, Bell School of Motoring cannot be held responsible for any infringement of the law. Any fines that are incurred will be the responsibility of the driver. Instructors will not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour during a lesson. If this should arise the lesson will be cancelled forthwith at the students expense and possibly result in the withdrawal of tuition with the school.

Lesson Prices and Payments
Lessons can be paid by cash, cheque or bank transfer following agreement with your instructor. Payment must be made at the beginning of each lesson. Credit will not be given unless prior arrangement has been made. Lesson fees will be clearly explained at the time of booking your place with the school and a comprehensive price list can be found on our website www.bell-som.co.uk.

Block Bookings must be paid for in full on the first lesson and once paid lessons must commence within one calendar month of payment being received. A minimum of one hour tuition a week must then be taken unless prior arrangement has been made.
If lessons do not commence within one calendar month of payment being received, the school will deduct one lesson per week until lessons commence. If you suspend taking any pre-paid tuition for a period of eight weeks or more, any remaining tuition owed will be forfeited. Refunds will only be made in exceptional circumstances at the instructors discretion and then refunded at the normal hourly rate. Lesson prices may be changed at any time with reasonable notice.

Cancellations
Instructors cannot be held responsible for late notice cancellations due to mechanical faults, accidents or sickness. If lessons are cancelled within less than 24 hours notice, every effort will be made to reschedule the lesson as soon as possible. Students cancelling with less than a FULL 24 hours (1 day) notice for whatever reason will be charged in FULL. Please contact your instructor on their individual mobile in the first instance, leaving a message if required. Contact can also be made via the main school mobile 07789 008252, www.bell-som.co.uk or Facebook @ Bell School of Motoring. Students failing to turn up for a pre arranged lesson will be charged in FULL for that lesson which will need to be paid prior to any other tuition commencing. Lessons booked via a Block Booking will automatically be deducted from the booking total. Students that DO NOT take lessons or cancel lessons on THREE consecutive weeks without prior arrangement will automatically be removed from their instructors list and will not be guaranteed any further lessons.

Punctuality
From time to time instructors may be delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. If an instructor is going to be more than five minutes late they will endeavour to contact you and the time lost will be added to the end of the lesson if possible, or added to another lesson at a later date. Time lost by a student being late for a lesson up to 15 minutes unfortunately cannot be added to a lesson and lateness greater than 15 minutes will result in the lesson be cancelled by the instructor at the pupils expense.

Communication
Please ensure that you notify your instructor of any changes to mobile or landline contact numbers. Communication should always be directed to your allocated instructor in the first instance. The schools website is www.bell-som.co.uk where an email facility is available. Students can also contact the main school mobile on 07789 008252 or on our Facebook Page – Bell School of Motoring.

Data Protection
All personal data held by the school ie: name, address, contact numbers; including driving licence details are deleted by your instructor once lessons are no longer being taken. From time to time, the school may publish pupil’s photos on social media for advertising and promotional reasons. By signing and agreeing to these Terms & Conditions you are agreeing to the above, if you disagree or wish to opt out then please notify your instructor.

Theory and Practical Tests
The school will make every effort to help you reach a good standard of driving that will enable you to pass your tests. Theory and Practical Tests are booked via www.gov.uk website. Each student is offered the use of our FREE Theory Test Pro which we encourage you to use to enable you to pass your Theory as quickly as possible. Theory Tests can be taken in Colchester, Ipswich and Chelmsford. Practical Tests are taken in Colchester and can only be booked once the Theory is passed and your instructor has indicated that you are reaching test standard. Once the practical test is booked it is essential that you continue with the agreed lesson plan to ensure you are fully prepared for the booked test date. In the interest of road safety the School reserves the right to withdraw the use of the car without prior notice, should it be deemed that you are unsafe and not up to test standard. Instructors CANNOT be held responsible for Theory or Practical tests being cancelled by the DVSA at anytime. Should this happen FULL payment to the instructor for the agreed lesson time must be paid.
